Sunday Morning Gad About

Today was the last day of the Home and Garden show at the Exhibition Centre so we popped in to see what was going on. The only thing really worth paying for is the Home Grown section as the main hall is filled with the usual tat and chain store furniture. Not that there aren’t good deals to be had but it’s just not really my thing.

We spent most of our time at the iKhaya stall talking to Genevieve Motley. Gen is pretty much the original and best laser cut jewellery designer in the country so be sure not to buy any knock-offs (you don’t want to lose out on the quality). I love the wooden cake toppers by iKhaya, which were originally created for Gen’s wedding. Below are just a few snaps from the stall and a quick one of the Hilton on our way back to the car.

Food Landscapes by Carl Warner

Carl Warner is a still life photographer based in London. He is most well-known for his elaborate landscapes created using food.

The ‘Foodscapes’ are created in Carl’s London studio where they are built on top of a large purpose built triangular table top. The scenes are photographed in layers from foreground to background and sky as the process is very time consuming and so the food quickly wilts under the lights. Each element is then put together in post production to achieve the final image.

Tokyo-Go-Go Prints

A couple of weeks ago Greg Darroll aka Tokyo-Go-Go had an exhibition at Mooki Noodle. As we were looking for some new art we went along to check it out. The exhibition consisted of loads of square block-mounted character prints. Needless to say I wanted one and my other half wanted another but as anyone knows two of something never looks right so we bought three.
