Interpret Durban Design Contest

A few years ago Durban was stagnating. Nothing much was going on, people were leaving town at an alarming rate for Cape Town and London and those who were left didn’t much seem to care. Not anymore!  These days Durban is alive with possibility, the art and music scene is soaring and Durbanites are getting involved in all sorts of events.

One such event is Interpret Durban which was started by Casey and Richard of Street Scene Tours. They pretty much wanted some rad designs for their t-shirts so they created a competition, waited for the entries to pile in and used it as an excuse to party the night away while the winners were chosen. This year they’re doing it all again and they’ve added photography and video to the mix.

If you have a creative streak in you just waiting to get out then this is your chance to shine. Get designing, clicking or filming now! Submissions close 19 September 2011.

The theme for this years comp is Rediscover. Reconnect. Reveal.

The Thrift Collection Pop-up Shop

Pippa and Bevan of The Thrift Collection have bought the cutest little caravan and converted it into a traveling pop-up shop. With loads of hanging space on rails, some shelving for shoes and some really fab retro décor I think they’re on to a winner.  They launched their new venture at the Alliance Francaise in Durban on Saturday and despite some really rather miserable weather there was quite a good turnout.

If you missed it, be sure to follow The Thrift Collection on twitter (@thethriftco) for information on the next pop-up shop location.
